Movin on Up

This is the lunch of a woman with a schedule. I finally have four classes and all of their real hours and locations. Music, literature, regional development, and Spanish. Two classes at the local, public university (Universidad Nacional de Cuyo) and two classes with the program.

Dinner was a DIY salad. I opted for everything.

Blurry canned tuna. mmm.

I've been craving churros and haven't told anyone. But somehow my host mom knew. She came into my room before dinner and said we were going out for churros. I wanted to ask if we'd be eating dinner before or after, but I just went with the flow. Turns out the churros with dulce de leche were dinner. So, I ate three churros at Churrico (apparently the best place to go for churros in Mendoza, it's been around for 45 years) for dinner from 9:30PM-11:30PM with two sixty-something year olds. This kinda stuff doesn't casually happen in the U.S.

Buenos Aires

Three days in Buenos Aires before arriving in Mendoza...

Ensalada con tomates y parmesana.

Balsamic and oil.
Spanish tart. Egg tart filled with potatoes.

Ravioli with pesto and creme.

Sweet potato blend and sweet cheese. Not really sure what these are called...

I tried to eat the sweet potato and cheese thing with bread, but it's meant to be eaten by itself. Note also, flan (or bread pudding...not sure...) with dulce de leche and sweet cream.
My first Argentinian empanada.

Fried calamari.

Breakfast at the Dazzler Palermo Hotel in the "Hollywood" district of Buenos Aires. I could look across my balcony and see the FOX network working away. Croissants are called medialunas.
Cafe con leche.

We went to a market.

Honey comb.

Chick-fil-A

I usually HATE the salads at fast food restaurants. The produce isn't fresh, the chicken is greasy, the bleu cheese is stale, etc., but Chick-fil-A exceeded my expectations with their new Grilled Market Salad. The salad comes with Harvest Nut Granola, Roasted Nut Blend, and Apple Cider Vinaigrette.

We need to talk about Cow Appreciation Day and how it's on 7/11 (the same day as free slurpee day at 7/11!!!)

If you dress up like a cow, you can get a free Chick-fil-A meal. If you dress up partially like a cow, you can get a free Chick-fil-A entree. Then while you're in your cow attire, you can run over to 7/11 and get a free small slurpee. All the free food, all in the same day.

Rules for Cow Appreciation Day: http://www.chick-fil-a.com/Cows/Appreciation-Day.

Grilled Market Salad including grilled chicken, apples (green and red), strawberries, blue berries, shredded carrots, bleu cheese crumbles, shredded purple cabbage, romaine lettuce, and baby greens.

Harvest Nut Granola with cranberries and golden raisins

Roasted Nut Blend: sliced almonds, walnuts, and pecans

Did not use. The bleu cheese and fruit made the salad exciting enough for me.
